Press Releases April 9, 2008 Contact: Tonya Pyatt 312.563.0977, 773.895.0637 New Works Victoria Loeb & JC Steinbrunner June 20, 2008 Chicago, IL - The Architrouve is proud to present the group exhibition New Works by Victoria Loeb & JC Steinbrunner. The exhibition is a new body of work consisting of mixed media on canvas by Victoria Loeb and watercolor on stretched paper by JC Steinbrunner. Victoria Loeb's new paintings are a graduation from her previous works on canvas and a revisit to her origins in figurative drawing, but this time it's not "the Line" that gives her figures shape and volume, but rather the layers of paint and subtle textures that form the mysterious silhouettes. Her purpose was to be as minimal as possible, to allow her technique to insinuate the luminous figures, to let them keep their lightness and mystery. JC Steinbrunner's new watercolors are a continuum from his cities and landscape works. He rearranges how we see our built and natural environment; buildings and mountains appear crumpled on the paper and float in mid air with delicate layers and drips of watercolor. He explores the space between our lived experiences and our memory of those experiences by rendering familiar forms on paper in an unfamiliar way. Friday, June 20 Opening Reception is 7pm - 9pm The Architrouve 1433 West Chicago Avenue Chicago, IL 60622 312-563-0977 www.thearchitrouve.com Exhibition runs until July 26, 2008 Gallery Hours: Wed. through Fri. 10-6 & Sat. 10-3 Designed and executed in 2006, the mission of The Architrouve is to embrace and promote the creative process as reflected in the art and culture of Chicago.
